1. Pastor’s Report (Fr. Casey)
- New pastor has not yet been appointed.
- Old projector screen was fixed and is up. Mike ordered new electronic screen which was paid for by parishioner. (Leo)
2. Transition Team (Update from Marge Ryan) (Jerry)
- No Transition Team meetings planned until new parish leaders assigned.
- Mike arranged date of June 19th for Holy Ghost Fathers’ Farewell (see 12, below)
- Second part of transition is to help new pastor have a smooth transition.
- Clergy Personnel Board considering letter submitted by Hispanic Community to Bishop McGrath on March 13th asking that Father Stasys Mikalonis be allowed to continue his ministry at St. Athanasius.
3. Letter of Appreciation from Hispanic Community (America)
- America read letter of appreciation for level of parish support for Hispanic Community’s request to Bishop McGrath concerning Fr. Stays.
- 1,128 parishioners added their signatures to the letter to the Bishop for Father Stasys to stay.
4. Discussion on Changing PC meeting Start Time
- As of April 23rd meeting, PC meetings will start at 7:30PM and end at 9:00PM
5. Ministry Conference/Seniors’ Hospitality
- Ministries grouped together. Jerry spoke for the Pastoral Ministries.
- Stewardship brochure requested to be put on website. (PDF file)
- PayPAL button still off. Jenniffer will look into this.
- Announced that seniors formed hospitality ministry.
6. Coffee and Doughnuts Plan/Schedule Update
- Coffee and Doughnuts every third Sunday provided from October to June. Suggestion to have it year round and have groups assigned quarterly to help. Parish would reimburse groups who sponsor. Donation collected would go back to the coffee and doughnuts fund.
- Coffee and doughnuts on April 19th will be sponsored by PIA.
7. Finance Council Report- Fundraising Plans
- Anticipating budget deficit by the end of fiscal year.
- Planning fundraising drive after Easter. Collections have gone up in the past few months but not enough. Also ask parishioners how much they plan to give to help form budget.
8. Maintenance Committee Status and Plans
- Cry Room Upgrade: Father Casey sent a letter to thank donor, who prefers to remain anonymous, for offering to pay cost of upgrading Cry Room. Walls have been painted, except for one where a mural will be painted and carpet squares are being ordered.
- Maintenance Priorities: 1.Paint unpainted eaves 2. Remodel bathrooms 3. Replace carpet in church. Cost for bathrooms and carpet estimated at about $75,000, when funds are available.
- Leo changed 18 lights from 5400W to 1600W. $600 total ($400 material $200 for lifter). New sanctuary lamps are easy to change and cost less to replace ($4-$5 each.) Leonel will change center lamp bulbs to give more light to altar at Father Casey’s request.
- Stage to be installed in the next couple weeks. Concrete foundation now in place.
9. New Council Members Sub-Committee Report
- Kevin has compiled a list of potential candidates for new PC members and needs help calling them. Jerry and Peg to help. Target date towards end of April. Hoping diocese will be making decision about new pastor soon so that potential candidates can be advised accordingly when called.
10. PC Guidelines Sub-Committee Status/Plans
- Jerry, Jenniffer and Peter will meet as soon as possible to work on PC guidelines. Aim to provide more flexibility than bylaws.
11. Parish 50th Anniversary Celebration Update
- Marge working on commemorative booklet outreaching to businesses for sponsorship ads. $200 for full page, $100 for half page. $50 for quarter page.
- PC will sponsor $200 ad. Aaron to pay and members will pay him. ($15.38 each)
- Book will be taken to the printer by April 10th.
- Budget- we should break even. Anybody who buys ticket will get a booklet and a grocery bag. Selling tickets and bags on weekends of April 5,12,19.
- Possible silent auction at dinner. Donated gifts.
- Change MC to Robert Fitzwilliam. Kevin O’Leary is no longer available.
MASS: (Leo) Setting up 1000 chairs but some people will be standing. Stage is 3 feet high, made of iron, and will have rails. Front will have shallow steps. Will have canopy and portable ambo. Choir requesting risers for about 30 singers. Food will be served along asphalt. Portable restrooms cost $100 to $150 a day. Not in budget but Hispanic community will provide for them.
- Collecting prayers for prayer of the faithful.
- Next meeting for anniversary April 19th.
12. Holy Ghost Fathers Farewell Reception Plans
- Mike arranged with Bishop McGraw to celebrate Mass on Friday evening,
June 19th, according to Bishop’s schedule. Simple receptions will take place after
all masses on June 27th and 28th weekend so that all may participate.
13. New Business/ Proposed April Agenda
- Plan to announce selection of 5 newly discerned PC members and discern new officers for next year’s council at May PC meeting. Suggest retiring members serve as advisors to new council.
